For Disposal of Feminine Products at My Hero Gallery 3655 St-Laurent Blvd, Suite 206 Vernissage Saturday June 16th 2007 Showing June 16th until 23rd Collaborative art piece by 40 local women artists. Midnight fashion show by Kristen MacGregor and Sarah Rainville. Featuring a DJ set by Killa Jewel. My Hero presents a new collection of works by over 50 local female artists. The gallery has set an experiment in motion to examine the female artistic landscape within its community. We gave each artist the same assignment of a 1-foot by1-foot block of wood, to design in any way they seemed fit. Each woman has brought their own perspective to the assignment, and the results are wonderful; innovative, gorgeous, unique and often funny. The artwork will be displayed accompanying a double fashion show by up and coming designers Kristen Macgregor and Sarah Rainville. Drawing inspiration from crazy quilting, assemblage, boyfriend’s hand me downs and recycled fabrics, the designers will exhibit their work in an unconventional display that will emphasize the roles of concept and performance found within their fashions.
