Due to budget restrictions and pressure from building management we have no choice but to bring an end to our independent space. For our last art show we invite you to celebrate My Hero’s life with a masquerade installation party. Russell and Sarah have created a portal into a fantastic, haunting and nightmarish alternative universe. The space has been transformed into a post apocalyptic world run by creatures, cyborgs and sub humans all under the spell of their oppressive leader Oprah Winfrey. The show will feature painting, sculpture, screen prints and 3D animations. 3D masks will be available at the door. This will be our last chance to provide you with the opportunity to experience underground independent art in it’s purest form, we hope to see you there.

For Disposal of Feminine Products at My Hero Gallery 3655 St-Laurent Blvd, Suite 206 Vernissage Saturday June 16th 2007 Showing June 16th until 23rd Collaborative art piece by 40 local women artists. Midnight fashion show by Kristen MacGregor and Sarah Rainville. Featuring a DJ set by Killa Jewel. My Hero presents a new collection of works by over 50 local female artists. The gallery has set an experiment in motion to examine the female artistic landscape within its community. We gave each artist the same assignment of a 1-foot by1-foot block of wood, to design in any way they seemed fit. Each woman has brought their own perspective to the assignment, and the results are wonderful; innovative, gorgeous, unique and often funny. The artwork will be displayed accompanying a double fashion show by up and coming designers Kristen Macgregor and Sarah Rainville. Drawing inspiration from crazy quilting, assemblage, boyfriend’s hand me downs and recycled fabrics, the designers will exhibit their work in an unconventional display that will emphasize the roles of concept and performance found within their fashions. It’s a very exciting show. We invite you to attend our Vernissage, For Disposal of Feminine Products, taking place on Saturday June 16th 2007 starting at 9pm. We're hosting an unconventional comic book show. With no ties to standard panels and word bubbles, here the work is distilled down to a narrative baseline. Without regular means of storytelling, or familiar ways of reading stories, the artists and audience will be working together to discover new kinds of narrative, and new ways of exploring traditional comics. An impressive lineup of artists, known internationally for their comic and illustration work, will be challenging the audience and themselves by using the tools of their medium: dialogue, exegetical and non-exegetical text, characters, time and space-based panels, and other traditional comic book elements, in subtle and innovative ways.

Some dumb fucker stole our brass deers (30cm high, 5lbs each) at the My Hero est Mort vernissage aka the Oprah show. Not cool. The deers were precious gifts given to Michelle by her nannie, that were in given to her by Michelle's uncle who was killed by a drunk driver a couple of months ago. This is the lowest and most hurtful action anyone has ever done to us.

If you know anything about their whereabouts please let us know, there is a reward for their recovery.

Honestly we have put our hearts and souls into this place. We don't get any funding, we're broke ass poor kids who have worked shitty part time jobs to support something that we believe in. If there is any good or dignity left in the world someone will help us get our most prized possessions back.

Shame, shame, shame, shame, shame on you.

Last night we saw Monotonix at Sneaky Dee's.

Pretty fun.

The drum kit ended up on Beckys chest and he kept playing. She's such a trooper.

They ended their set by parading everyone out on the street. I was pretty happy about this because I figured their set dynamics wouldn't have changed that much from when I saw them a month ago, so this was a nice surprise.

So I got my friend to switch cell phone companies and because she also got her whole family to do it, I ended up getting a whopping 15,000 ¥ worth of gift certificates. aka 150$ cnd, yay for me. omics, but they are all in japanese and more importantly I'm afraid to play her games cause i think it costs me money but i cant tell cause all the people who work for my cell phone company dont speak english at all even though its the largest cell phone company in the country. yes for the gajins. ever since i got here ive been dying to give her a true japanese harajuku makeover but have been waiting for the right moment. tonight it hit me, i went out with some of my friends and we came to the conclusion that I was a candy, rose, cream puff love kinda girl. I got my stuff, some glue, 6 episodes of arrested development and now she is a new woman. Let me just emphasize one thing, this was really really fun.
